World Affairs

What in the hell is going on out there? How many lies do we need to be told? What will it take for the people to stand up for what is right? Or is it too late already?

I just can't understand how close to half of this country still thinks that we should be in Iraq and that going there in the first place was a good idea.
  1. 9/11 was used to muster support by people who would normally not have agreed to such nonsense.
  2. Iraq did not send the planes into the towers.
  3. They did not pay the terrorists who plotted it.
  4. Other than being located in the Middle East, Iraq really didn't have a heck of a lot in common with the terrorists.
  5. But....but... the WMD's, that we never found.
  6. But......but....Saddam was a horrible dictator. (Saddam was tried and executed for the murder of close to 200 people. How many Iraqi people have died since we liberated them?) I am not saying he was a saint, but there are far worse atrocities occurring in the world that we turn a blind eye to.
  7. This list can go on and on, so I will stop now.

Now we are trying to build a case against Iran. With the main building block for this being that they are providing fighters and munitions to the insurgents in Iraq. What about the chemical weapons that we gave to Iraq to use against Iran during their war? What about the training we provided the Iraqi's during the same time frame. WE WERE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING! How can we blame them?

Do I like the fact that Iran is giving aid to people who are killing our troops? Absolutely not. Do I think that we would do the same thing if one of our sworn enemies were fighting in Mexico or Canada? Absolutely we would.

It is hard to blame Iran for what they are doing. War is an ugly thing. But I find so much more fault in the corrupt government that has put our troops in harms way than I do in another corrupt government that is taking advantage of an opportunity to weaken their enemy.

Government contracts to businesses with ties to the administration, billions of dollars literally lost, lies to start a war, lies about ending a war, manipulation of the public to make any criticism of the war "unpatriotic"........

I wonder how far this will go. How long it will take until the whole world has had enough. I truly pray that it won't come to that. I know that (myself included) a lot of the country is just hoping that this administration will just limit the insanity for another 2 years and that the next administration will bring some sort of integrity back to our country. Sadly though, politics is a business of corruption and the odds are strongly against any type of real reform.
